for consultancy service as a senior researcher

for the Horn Economic and Social Policy Institute (HESPI)

 

Background: The Horn Economic and Social Policy Institute (HESPI), an independent, non-profit regional institute and policy think tank, conducts high quality research and focuses on policy advice and institution building in the member countries of the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD) region and other developing countries.  HESPI wishes to procure the services of a competent senior economist to conduct research on economic cooperation and regional integration in the Horn of Africa (HoA). The senior researcher will be responsible for specific components or topics and supervise other team members’ research outputs.

Objectives of the Study: The study on economic cooperation and regional integration includes sub components of trade development and facilitation; of economic infrastructure development; food security and adverse climate change resilience; and addressing financial constraints.

Key deliverables: (i) An inception report that outlines sound methodological approach to conduct the study; (ii) high quality, comprehensive and well-written research reports; (iii) well-coordinated, effective and timely delivery of studies; and (iv) presentation of the research findings at high-level workshops and conferences.

Qualifications of the Consultant:  A PhD in economics, and minimum of 12 years’ experience in designing research programs and leading teams. The consultant must have demonstrated track record of publications in reputable journals and preferably economic research experience in the HoA; and excellent writing, communication and team building skills.

Duration of services: The consultancy service will be for 2 years with possibility of extension based on performance and availability of funding.

Request for EoI: Eligible individual researchers are invited and should provide documentation that they are qualified to perform the serves required.

Remuneration is negotiable and HESPI offers competitive compensation for qualified researchers.

Submission of EoI: EoI clearly marked “EoI for consultancy service to conduct research on economic cooperation and regional integration” should be submitted by 5:00pm of 30th June 2019.
