National Economic Policy Forum

Dr. Ali Issa, Managing Director of HESPI and Mr. Edris Hussein,
HESPI Senior Research Associate participated at the 5th high-level
National Economic Policy Forum organized by the National
Economic Council of Somalia on June 20 - 21, 2022 in Mogadishu,
Somalia. This year’s National Economic Policy Forum focused
on the “Growth and Economic Transformation Strategy (GETS)”.

HESPI participated at a Public Sector
Good Governance Conference

Dr. Ali Issa, Managing Director of HESPI participated at
the Public Sector Good Governance Conference organized
by the Auditor General Office of Somalia on February
23-24,2022 in Mogadishu, Somalia. The conference highlighted
the state of good governance in Somalia and how information
technology and innovation can be leveraged to promote financial
integrity, accountability and transparency of public sector
operations.

HESPI Board of Directors meeting

HESPI Board of Directors met on March 5, 2022 through a virtual
platform.The Chairperson opened the meeting with a welcoming
remark and approved the agenda. The management of HESPI then
presented reports on the Institute current working programs and budget.
The Board members appreciated the effort the institute is making to
become a Centre of Excellence. The meeting was concluded by setting
the date of the next Board of Directors meeting.

The Horn Economic and Social Policy Institute (HESPI)
has been selected as one of "2020 Think Tanks with Outstanding
Policy-Oriented Research Programs" by the Global Go
To Think Tank Index Report published in January 2021.

AUHIP research validation workshop
on peace, security, stability,
cooperation and development in
the Horn of Africa

On behalf of the AUHIP RWG, HESPI coordinated and organized
second round research validation workshop using the African Union
Virtual Platform on June 10, 2021. The purpose of the validation
workshop was to give input and validate the African Union High
Level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) commissioned peace and
security research.

AUC & HESPI sign MoU

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is entered into by
the African Union represented through the African Union
Commission (AUC) and the Horn Economic and Social Policy
Institute (HESPI) on July 24, 2020 in Addis Ababa.
